R-PROPHET'S BIRTHDAY BASH
In 2003, R. Prophet was among a group of celebrities and professional athletes that participated in USO Project Salute 2003, the tour made stops throughout the Persian Gulf including Iraq. "This was an
experience of a lifetime, being in an actual war zone, it's something I will never forget", remembers R. Prophet, of the USO tour. Their third album Wooden Leather, followed in 2003, which featured the hit song "Roun the Globe".
In 2004, R. Prophet worked with his group on the soundtrack and score for the film "The Lady Killers" by Joel and Ethan Coen.
R. Prophet realizes the importance of giving back to the community. In 2005, he started and was involved in numerous community events and programs; including Nappy Roots Failure Free Reading Program, and Prophet's Society, a non-profit organization, which helps disadvantaged children. "Nappy Roots Day" continues to be a yearly event, which allows fans to celebrate the accomplishments of R. Prophet, Nappy Roots and the overall Louisville public. R. Prophet is also the host of his own radio
show, "The Streets are Talking", on Radio One's B96.5fm. The One-hour show showcases Kentucky's top unsigned talent and discusses the issues surrounding the urban community.
One of R. Prophet's biggest honors in addition to being nominated for two Grammy is the appointment to the Advisory Committee of the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, Kentucky. This committee is composed of many sports and entertainment greats such as, Bono, Sean Combs, Robin Williams, Dr. Maya Angelou and Quincy Jones. "It's an honor to be on this board not only representing my family, the community and hip-hop, but I symbolize what young adults can do with support. It proves all things are possible if you have positive people around you." R. Prophet goes on to say, "This prestigious group is led by the "Greatest" of all time, Muhammad Ali." R. Prophet knows that achieving true greatness
takes dedication, sacrifice and determination.
In 2008 R.Prophet joined forces again with Nappy Roots ex-manager Tony Sutton. Tony was a huge part of the Nappy Roots success until he left the group in 2004. Together Tony and R. Prophet joined the Hazle Harvey Peace Scholarship Fund and toured the state of Texas speaking to kids about the importance of staying in school. In December 2009, R. Prophet went back in the studio to start recording his 1st album, including singles, "Ridiculous", "They don't like that", and "My Life", featured in a movie called Street Ballers, http://streetballersthemovie.com/streetballerssite.html , currently he is finishing up his album
