The beginning of what would become "Jimmy and The Slammers" started in August 2013 when Bruce Jones and Paul Ennis met over coffee to talk about starting a band with a bit of a twist. Both of them with roots in the blues wanted to play the music they love but pumped up with a lot of energy. They wanted a band where people would get into the music but also want to be out on the dance floor. It took a couple of months to find musicians who shared the same vision and fit well together. In November the right mix was there. Five musicians from the Lexington music scene: Shawn Black from The Five Below Band, Dennis Jones from Rocksteady and Violet, Bruce Jones from The Five Below Band and Usual Suspects, Steve Miller from Space Cowboys and Rockhouse, Paul Ennis from Violet and Rockhouse. The first practice was filled with energy and a great feel. Everyone walked away with the feeling that this could be something good.
