Swing Dancing!
To all in the New Albany and Louisville dance community:
After seventeen months and quite a few triple steps, your N’ALBnY organizers have decided to wrap up our weekly dances and hard work within the New Albany and Louisville communities. This decision has been a difficult one and was made after some diligent thought and discussion between Jim Barry, Beirne Miles, Emily Slater, and Chris Schoenfelder recently, with all of our lovely dancers and life’s many other priorities in mind. We have had the pleasure of building southern Indiana’s premiere blues, swing, and jazz dance scene over the past year and a half and have genuinely enjoyed having this opportunity and time to connect with new friends, build a healthy dance community, and introduce new and local artists to the area’s dancers.
Jim, Beirne, Emily, and Chris have decided to cap off the organization’s tenure with a final evening of dancing, socializing, and all-around entertainment on Wednesday, 1 February 2017. For this evening’s festivities, we’re delighted to bring back the Solomon Douglas Quartet to Wick’s and give N’ALBnY a proper send off in style. We have also decided to donate 100% of the organization’s profits and remaining balance after expenses to our friends at Kosair Charities, so all of your participation and dance-y excitement will be going to a fantastic cause. We will scale back our weekly Wednesday evening events to solely the monthly band nights. More information on these three remaining live performance events will be posted to the N’ALBnY Facebook pages as information becomes available so that you and your friends can all plan to attend. Please make the most of this time between now and February and join us: we’d love to see you, get some amazing dances together, and build new friendships in New Albany. If anyone has any questions, please do not hesitate to follow up with any of the organizers through a direct Facebook message to the N’ALBnY group account or approaching us in-person at the next dance event. We truly appreciate every single one of you who have come out, gotten involved, and made the past seventeen months so much fun for us.
Sincerely,
your New Albany Lindy, Blues, and You organizers
